Alex Neyland, Molly Thomas and Macy Neyland
Since these girls were twelve they have played for the Sydney Swans Academy. This involves a Monday regional training session in Newcastle, then twice a year travelling to Sydney to compete in the Academy Games. From these games the Swans select a Super 24 team to compete against the Giants at Albury over a four day carnival.
Alex and Molly were selected in the Swans Under 15 Youth Girls side and Macy Neyland in the Swans Under 13 Youth Girls to take part in the 2022 Super 24 Series.
Both the Swans Under 15 Youth Girls and the Swans Under 13 Youth Girls were unbeaten over the four day carnival held in September 2022 at Albury.
Alex “I was really happy to meet up with lots of the friends I made in the school NSW team from the Giants and play against them. As I get older it is harder and harder to keep your spot in the Swans Academy. Next year we need to complete benchmark to stay in the under 16 which will be tough but I guess you just keep on training and just trying your best”
Molly "On 30 November we had Scott Gowans AFLW Swans coach attend training with encouragement and feedback. It is inspiring to see the next chapter of womens AFL... I'm hoping to be one of them."
Macy “ I was surprised to be named in the team. I loved playing ruck rover and enjoyed the high level of competition”
Congratulations girls on achieving a very high and exciting standard in sport, our College Community are proud of you all.
