Creative Arts

St Catherine’s Catholic College is very proud to offer a range of performance, drama, dance, music and visual arts extra-curricular activities for students to support their development and growth.  In alternate years, primary and secondary students perform for the College and the community. In 2018, primary students performed ‘Dance through the Ages’ and secondary students performed ‘It’s Showtime’ and ‘Ingle Springs’.

Vocal group

Students from Kindergarten to Year 2 can join the Infants Choir and students in Years 3 to 6 can join Glee Club. Students in Years 7 to 10 can join the Senior Choir which practises are once per week.  The College’s Vocal Groups have a long tradition of many successful performances and the songs are chosen with a focus on contemporary musical styles which are always fun to perform.

ASPIRE

ASPIRE is a diocesan program of excellence for students in the Performing Arts area. Students audition in November each year for a place in the Vocal Ensemble, Instrumental Ensemble, Drama Ensemble and/or Dance Ensemble. Those who are selected attend weekly rehearsals in Semester 1 to prepare for a showcase in August each year.

DioSounds

DioSounds is an annual event held at the Civic Theatre each year. It showcases the talents of the students and programs on offer at schools throughout the diocese. Each year approximately 50 students from the St Catherine’s Performing Arts Program are selected to perform in the showcase.

School Musicals and Plays

Each year, St Catherine’s alternates between putting on a school musical and a school play. Students who audition for the musical/play are advised that they are undertaking a major commitment of their time. In 2017, students slicked back their hair for the musical production ‘Happy Days’.
