NAPLAN & HSC

All students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in Australia are required to sit the National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). NAPLAN takes place over two weeks in May each year with testing in Literacy (Writing, Reading and Language Convention) and Numeracy (non-calculator and calculator). Parents and the school will receive a statement of performance and the school uses NAPLAN results to indicate future planning and teaching needs.

The school takes a holistic approach to literacy and it is explicitly taught in each subject with a literacy reporting outcome for each subject on the Semester 1 and 2 reports. Individual students who are not reaching the benchmark levels are also identified and a support program is implemented through the Learning Support Unit.

A proven history of outstanding HSC results, National finalists in Science and Engineering, Stage 6 Music students consistently achieving Band 6’s, nominations for OnStage, Encore, Art Express and Showcase, state finalists in debating, top achieving Year 8 and 10 in Diocesan Religious Literacy and a focus on iSTEM, affirms the strength of curriculum initiatives at the school.

In recent years, at the completion of Year 12, over 90% of our students obtained either entry into their chosen University course, their first choice of employment or were offered an apprenticeship.

All students in years 5, 7 and 9 must ensure that Naplan is installed on their BYO device. Follow this link for the instructions.
