The Aboriginal Education program at St Catherine’s Catholic College is dependent upon external funding which varies from year to year. Funding is provided for the employment of an Aboriginal Education Teacher and assistant which equates to full time coverage. St Catherine’s Catholic College has a large group of indigenous students who are currently gaining assistance through various programs which have been designed to meet their current needs. Programs focus on specific literacy support, developing computing and technology skills and exploring Art and Culture.
The Learning Support Unit is involved in a range of other programs and activities around the structure of the school environment. Assistance is provided with the organisation and delivery of NAPLAN, additional support for ESL students, support on school excursions and retreats, as well as contributing to the delivery of the various school Community Days and liturgies.
